Waves of Good Hope, Trash Ōn Treasure Charity Drive 25 & 26 May 2006, Cape Town

Waves of Good Hope, in collaboration with Evidencia Africa Productions www.evidencia.co.za, turned one personÕs trash into anotherÕs treasure!

The project initially started off asking school kids to give unwanted clothes, books, sporting equipment to those less fortunate to them. The film industry also got involved and many production companies were keen on donating props, computer equipment and clothes from shoots in Cape Town.

Schools gave so much that the initial receivers of the treasure had to grow (see below) – a number of trips in the Imperial sprinter were organised to collect from St RaphaelÕs in Athlone, Parklands College in Tableview, AA Montessori pre school in Noordhoek, Reddam College in Tokai and K.I.D.S. at the International School in Tamboerskloof.

The Cape Town based production and photographic agencies that where also involved included BJs Photo Lab, Hurricanes Photographic Agency, 2 Productions, Giant Films, Dirk Molsen Productions and Collective Energy.

There were a number of other people who have made this event possible – including Imperial Truck Hire, Darryl Kruger, Evidencia Africa Productions, John Bleach, Peter Braat, South African StudentsÕ Travel Service (SASTS), Cape Milner Hotel, Keri Muller, Yvette Erkins, Veerle Sjneeders and Jurriaan Esmeijer

Initially Waves of Good Hope identified three organisations that they have supported before to be beneficiaries. However as the treasure kept arriving, it was evident there would be a few more organizations that could benefit – here are some of the beneficiariesÉ

Those who benefited from the generosity of others included
„ HESA (community based aids support group),
„ Sive Nathi (home for profoundly disabled children),
„ Future Factory (sports foundation training coaches and teaching the Olympic sports in townships)
„ Kaya Now-Now (crche development in Kayamandi),
„ CASE (Community Action towards a Safer Environment)
„ St AnneÕs Home (development for abused women and their kids),
„ Zeldas House (refuge for street children and outreach for adults living on the street),
„ The Big Issue (magazine for street vendors)
„ Red Cross ChildrenÕs Hospital (childrenÕs hospital)
„ Atlantis home for women (refuge for abused women)

From all of these people A HUGE THANKS!!!!! It is hard to put in words the reactions from those who received this treasure.. We can only relay some of the messages from those who received the treasure
