Why take up personal training?
Personal training is undoubtedly the most effective way to reach your fitness goals. It is
effective due to the motivation a personal trainer gives you to get up out of bed and start the
day doing something positive for your health and happiness!
Motivation is the key to success, along with the knowledge a personal trainer will bring to your
sessions. Your personal trainer will encourage you to set solid goals after which they will create
long term and short term plans to tailor an exercise programme specifically for your needs.
The one-on-one nature of personal training allows your trainer to work hard on ensuring great
technique and a true safety to your training.
Regular tests and screening will be conducted to chart your progress which in turn gives you more
motivation to train harder!
To see how effective personal training can be, please refer to the
testimonials submitted by my clients.

AUTUMN 2008
Something that has been prevelant in the media over the last Decade is the obesity
crisis, which is blamed on lack of exercise and a poor diet. Whilst this is true,
the media have failed to see the real heart of the problem. The numbers of people
participating in formal exercise porgrams, hiring personal trainers, participating
in group training and boot camps has never been higher. Sales on bicycles and sporting
equipment has never been higher. So the question must be asked, 'why is there still
an obesity crisis?'
The answer is actually simple. It is due to the sedentary lifestyle that is lived by
the majority of the western world. Exercising for one hour a day is nowhere near enough
if you are inactive for the other twenty three hours of the day.
Our occupations have decreased rapidly in energy expenditure, as has our home life,
primarily thanks to the computer, which is ironic as I had to sit at a computer to
write this! It doesn't take a scientist to realize that we sit down for so many more
hours than ever before.
The aim of this months column is to make people realize that the problem behind obesity
is leading a sedentary life. So get out and get moving! Walk whenever you can, play
active games, ride your bike, take the stairs, just get moving. Don't let your hard
work in your exercise go to waste by sitting down for the other twenty three hours
in a day.
