Peugeot National Pageant - Canberra, Easter 2006

Peugeot Pageant returns to the national capital in 2006.  The Prime Minister may still eschew Canberra for the shores of Sydney Harbour, but there will be plenty to attract Peugeot owners to the shores of Lake Burley Griffin when the 2006 Peugeot Pageant takes place at Easter.

Accommodation is still available at the well-set-up Eaglehawk Holiday Park, just outside Canberra. An excellent range of accommodation is on offer to suit all budgets and needs. Everyone needs to make their own bookings with Eaglehawk Holiday Park (02 6241 6411). The minimum accommodation booking at that time of year is three nights (the length of the Pageant), with a deposit of one night being required at the time of your booking. Eaglehawk Holiday Park has provided a competitive catering package.  For those who were at the 2000 Pageant, there is now a larger dining hall. So bring your family, friends and even your future club members.

The Pageant will begin on Good Friday with the arrival of participants. On Saturday, a concourse, group photo, lunch and, in the afternoon, a driving skills event is planned. Sunday will include a mystery tour/observation run of Canberra and environs, with a stop-over planned at the Cork Street Cafe in Gundaroo. This Cafe, situated in the stables of the original police station in 19th century Gundaroo, makes award-winning pizzas that are the best in the southern NSW countryside, as well as serving great coffee and cakes.  There will also be time to take in some of the notable local vineyards, such as Clonakilla and Lark Hill. The presentation dinner will follow that night, with departure on Easter Monday.

The Pageant aside, Canberra has many other attractions that are worth visiting. The National Gallery, the Portrait Gallery, Screensound and the National Museum of Australia offer world class exhibits of art as well as fascinating stories from Australian history. All of which adds up to a good reason to visit Canberra this Easter, particularly if you haven't been since the last Pageant. You won't be disappointed.
